Traveling is one of the most fun and interesting ways to spend your time, and preparing for your trip with a well-packed carry-on can make your travels a lot more enjoyable. Whether your flight is four hours or forty minutes, you’ll want to make sure that you’re as comfortable as possible. If you’re heading off on vacation sometime soon, remember to pack these must-have items in your carry-on bag!
Drinks and Snacks
Drinks, snacks, and meals on planes tend to come sporadically, unless you’re on a long-haul flight. Make sure that you bring a big bottle of water and a few snacks. This way you can stay hydrated and not get hungry [or hangry], if your drink/snack service is cancelled, unappealing, or you’re delayed.
Sweater or Scarf
It doesn’t matter where you’re heading or where you’re coming from, there is always the chance that your plane will be chilly. To keep yourself warm, pack your favorite throw-on sweater or scarf or head to The Sweater Shop and get new ones. If you end up being comfortable and warm when flying, you can always roll these items up and use them as a pillow instead.
Headphones
With the sound of the jet engines, loud talkers, and crying babies, flights can quickly get overwhelmingly loud, preventing you from relaxing. Make sure you have your favorite pair of headphones for in-flight entertainment. A pair of noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs can be really helpful as well, if you’re trying to block out all of the noise and focus on your film or nodding off to sleep.
Entertainment
We live in a digitally-minded age, but that doesn’t mean that your plane will have in-flight entertainment. Pack up your iPad, Kindle, and magazines to make the time pass more quickly. If you’re traveling with kids, it’s also a good idea to bring a coloring book, crayons, deck of cards, or travel game.
Portable Charger and Charging Cords
Only a few airlines have USB slots for charging electronics during flight, so it’s a good idea to pack a charger just in case.
Anti-Bac
Chances are that you don’t sanitize your home every single day, and that is completely normal. After all, some exposure to germs can help to build up your immune system. That being said, planes tend to be a breeding ground for bacteria, often causing illness that could ruin your vacation. Make sure you pack anti-bacterial wipes to clean around your seat and hand sanitizer to use before and after the flight.
Hand Cream
Dry cabin air does a number on your skin. The best defense is lots of water and good skin care products. If you ever needed a reason to buy fancy lotions and potions, this is it.
Extra Socks
If you don’t have TSA Pre✓® and have to take your shoes off to walk through security, you’re going to want an extra pair of socks. Even if you do have Pre✓®, it’s nice to slip into a fresh pair after you arrive at your destination.
